I purchased this phone set to replace an old cordless Vtech phone that would no longer charge. Prices have certainly decreased since my first set! Quality, especially for the base unit, has decreased as well. This set works well though if you are looking for a simple, single-line system and don't need an answering machine.
Additional handsets are available and very easy to pair with the base.
Note from 9/1/16: I purchased a replacement because my base got fried from an electrical storm. I wasn't sure how to pair the handsets with the new base, so I called Vtech. The customer service agent was excellent. Very patient with me and walked me through the process which wasn't explained in the instruction manual. (At least I couldn't find it!) It was a bit convoluted to do that, but I'm happy I can use my old handsets.

Perfect for smaller household!
We needed a no frills replacement for our old wireless home phones and decided to try these since they had so many positive reviews...and I'm glad we did! Set-up was simple and took less than 5 minutes. The layout of the handset is large and very intuitive, we didn't really need the instructions except to set the date and time. We have a smaller 1800 sq ft house and I walked to every corner of our house and never went out of range. In fact, I can still talk in our garage and driveway with no problem. Handsets are comfortable to hold and the base stations take up very little room on our counter. I highly recommend this set for just about any household. If you are in a large home there are very similar sets with more units.
