5.0 out of 5 stars best phone for electrical power outages

This is a land line phone model which I have used for 10 years now, and I love it. Unlike many of today's phones, it gives you reliable service. It always gives you a dial tone without any hassle, just by picking up the handset from the base. The numbers light up so you can see them easily (although see note in the next paragraph for one quirk), and you can use it even during a power outage, with no batteries ever required. Simple but very effective when your electricity is not working and you need to make phone calls that don't wear out any batteries.
Only 2 cons for this phone:
Con #1: Its keypad lights are brighter near the center than toward the outside of the keypad. So your #5 is always the most visible number. The numbers surrounding the 5 are the next brightest. The function buttons are not very well lit, so for example, the MUTE button is difficult to find in the dark. This is a minor inconvenience for me, and as long as I can find that #5 key, I can find anything on this phone.
Con #2: Don't set this near the edge of a table where it can slide off (preferably, use the wall mount instructions to make sure this phone is very secured to the wall!), because if you let it drop to the floor often, and if it lands on the corner of the phone in a certain way, then the corner plastic of the phone can break. I have owned quite a few models of this phone for different rooms of our house; the breakage does not happen very often, and it seems to happen only if you drop the phone frequently and over a long period of time. In the 2 cases where a phone case cracked from a fall to the floor, the phones had been in use for years, and it was always the corner that cracked. The phones still worked, but I had to cover the edges with duct tape until I could buy a new phone. Nowadays, I make sure to screw these to a wall securely according to the enclosed instructions, and that has solved the problem!
That said, this is still the ONLY corded land line phone that I keep in our house for power outages. I love the way it feels, it doesn't slip off my shoulder easily when I'm talking, and I like the fact that no batteries are ever required for it to work. I like the way the buttons press in such a way that it reliably dials the number you wanted. Occasionally I have tried other phones but have not liked any of them as much. And a lot of the newer models of corded land line phones are built very cheap and unreliable, compared to this AT&T model I'm reviewing which I like so much. I hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars 11 reasons why I love this phone
Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2014
Style: BlackVerified Purchase
What I wanted
1. Land-line. Living in rural Hawaii, I need both a cellular and a land-line for maximum reliability
2. Long cords so I can walk & talk without having to buy extra extensions. This came with 7' of line
3. Bigger keys on the keypad
4. Touch-tone capable as well as pulse
5. Receiver not too heavy
6. Good loud ring-tone with softer options
7. Really loud option for incoming voices also with softer settings
8. Clear sending & receiving, no burbles or static
9. Sit flat on night-table
10. Simple operation
11. Inexpensive: I dislike paying for unneeded options
The AT&T 210 is all of this and more. In addition to my essential eleven qualities, the phone offers other features:
12. Lighted numbers
13. Mute option
14. Up to ten fast dial numbers
15 Plus fast dial icons for medical, fire, and police (nice safety feature)
16 Wall install (flip an insert to keep receiver in cradle for wall mount)
17 Instructions are detailed and written in clear correct English
18 Design is simple, attractive, nice black finish that looks new after use. Size is 9" long, 4" tall, and 3 l/2 " wide.
19 The AT&T help number connects to AT&T customer service and works. I checked this out when I got the phone & just checked again.
ANY USER ALERTS?
* This is a simple, basic phone, not a full-featured phone that will fold the laundry and do conference calls.
* Be careful! The instructions state the phone will not function well if other phones are hooked up on the same land-line. Reviewers who found the sound wasn't the best may have been using multiple phones on their land-line. If you want multiple phones and excellent sound on all, this may not be the top choice for your needs.
* The base is light-weight which would not be a big issue for a wall-mount but think about location
* Not actually an AT&T product made in USA. The phone is a product of a company called Advanced American Telephones licensed by AT&T to use the logo and name. The phone is manufactured in China and the customer service is by Advanced American telephones. I do not know if this could be a future issue re service or not.
For what I wanted, I love this phone! This may not be for the best phone for every user's needs but it works for me: the price is right (under $10 for me including shipping), the performance good and the features are fine.

An identical old AT&T wall phone discolored over time for some reason. Given the wall outlet takes more work to remove, I just replaced the phone with the exact same model from Amazon. Works great and hopefully it will not discolor for many years.

5.0 out of 5 stars If your mom is a senior citzen this is a must for crying out loud

Let me begin by saying my mom is going to be ninety years old and healthy as a horse. So in the last year we have been upgrading things around her house to smart devices . The biggest mistake of my life. Well it started with a new 40 inch smart tv for her room and a 56 inch smart tv for the living room. I don't know what genius invented the input button. Its been the vein of my existance. I have had to drive to my moms house 3000 times to hit the damn input button. I get phone calls from her I don't know what's wrong with tv. Nothing wrong I just have to hit the input button. Next I got her a new smart washer. I have been there every day for a year washing a load of clothes. Boy I was wrong. Vizio can kiss my ***. LG lifes good. For who not me. So when she needed a new phone I got her the old ATT slim line. Thank god she loves it and its easy for her a win win for me. Then I got her a double line so family can get a hold of her because apperently my mom is on a national safety facebook data base. I was tired of getting 45 phone calls every time the phone was busy. So we are working on switching over lines. Christ say a prayer for me. So one day the phone was busy and as usual my phone blew up I told everybody she died good ridence. That didn't go over well. Now i'm on a national safety database shit list on facebook. I love my mom but jesus take the wheel. Thank god for amazon. As soon as she gets the double line down i might get some peace and quiet. Amazon saving one mans life at a time. Whew

5.0 out of 5 stars No frills landline phone...

This is a very "basic" phone. No answering machine, not a cordless phone, and really not many features. A simple memory stored fast dial, good for those who cannot remember much anymore. Just dial M1, M2 or M3 for the most used contacts.
Perfect for what I need, and not paying extra for features I don't need. It seems strong, and I hope it will last for years to come. Adjustable volume on ring and voice, but I find it loud already in the mid setting.
What I think is missing, not really a cons, but something that can be improved, is the length of the cable that plugs into the wall. It comes with a standard 3ft cable, which normally, in a cordless phone, would be enough, since the handset can be carried around. On a fixed unit like this one, it needs to be in a central location, even a wall, and more times than not, the plug in the wall is farther than 3 ft.
Thanks

Standard corded phone. I purchased it for our finished basement for three reasons. 1 cordless phones generally don't work when the power goes out 2 Our cordless phone would lose signal in the basement. 3 We have a jack in the basement so it just made sense.

I needed a phone for my mother who's in a nursing home easy enough for her to use without getting confused and this one has worked.
It even has memory so I can add my number and all she has to do is push two buttons to call me. It's so much better then the one they have for them at the nursing home. I'm very grateful. Now I dont have to worry if she can get ahold of me and she doesn't either. Both of us have less stress because of this little phone and I like the color. I forgot about the lighted numbers for easy dialing.

I live in the country and we have from time to time electric outages. I had one of these phones for very long time, but it disappeared so when the power is out, you can plug in this printers phone and make calls unlike all the new ones that need electricity To be working the app print this phone does not it has its own batteries inside so if you live long way out in the woods like I do need to make a phone call and your cell doesn’t work it’s a goodbye. Well worth the money.
